Project director of Karachi Package Niaz Soomro and programme manager Mohammed Khalid briefed the chief minister on technical aspects of the underpass. He said that just after recent rains he had started stalled work on the underpass and now it would be completed by the end of this month. Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro briefed the chief minister about the progressoftheroad. `We have given a new shape to entire Sharea Faisal by widening its roads and remodelling Baloch Colony Flyover,` he said and added that the new streetlights installed along the road and construction of footpaths would further add to the beauty to the main artery of the city. He said that the Lyari Expressway would also be opened shortly to divert heavytrafficof theport totheExpressway, which would reduce the pressure of heavy traffic from Punjab Chowrangi and Sunset Boulevard.The chief minister said that the Drigh Road underpass being constructed at the cost Rs662.599 million was most important project for smooth flow of traffic on Sharea Faisal towards Jinnah Terminal. The chief minister, who was accompanied by Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro, besides inspecting the underpasses at Drigh Road and Submarine Chowrangi, also visited the Sunset Boulevard roundabout to examine the possibility to construct a flyover to connect Girzri to Sunset Boulevard to make the traffic coming from Gizri for Sunset Boulevard signal free.
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah after visiting two important under-construction projects in the city said on Sunday that he was quite optimistic that the projects would be completed as per schedule and that he would inaugurate the Drigh Road underpass on July 20.
